We walked in and the place was very busy. But we asked for a booth and got one right away. The waitress was very nice and took good care of us. The food arrived within minutes. The food was amazing! We arrived in Kingston for a hockey tournament and searched for a restaurant that was able to accommodate a group of 40, half of which were kids. The owner together with his staff welcomed our team and did an amazing job. The kids had a great time, the service was the best we've seen from any east side Mario's, and they did a great job on the food. Hats off to the staff and the owner for going above and beyond! I've been to Darbar twice. The first time I had the lunch special with a beef curry (don't recall exactly what kind), and thought that it was bland, uninteresting, and it had no heat at all, surprising because I ordered it "hot" The second time I was invited to dinner with a visiting relative. I was reluctant to agree to this restaurant due to my previous experience, but we went nonetheless. This time, I ordered the lamb dansak, and was completely blown away. It was definitely among the best dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The flavour was bold and complex but balanced, and with enough heat to make the dish exciting to eat. I had a taste of the other dishes at the table, which ranged from good to so-so, but my order was truly excellent. Both times, the service was prompt and polite, and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive. If all of the dishes on the menu were comparable to my last visit, I would not hesitate to give Darbar five stars for food. Unfortunately, many items are underperformers. Overall, if you didn't like Darbar, it's worth another shot - you probably just ordered the wrong item the first time. Read more

We went to Atomica on a weekday for lunch and got a seat by the window. The decor is really unique and we could see how the place could easily fill up and become very loud since it is all one big room (plus a patio). Thankfully, it was very quiet during the hour we were there (11:30ish) since it was so early in the day. The server was very professional, attentive without being pushy. The funghi pizza was apparently very good but my dining companion said that a big-box store carries a frozen one that is even tastier. I created my own with spicy tomato sauce, pulled chicken, feta and roasted red peppers, which was very nice. Overall, the quality is good and the price is a little high but it's a nice occasional dining out venue and they support local growers, which is appreciated. Read more

Based on the reviews of this place, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is really small, probably only about 10 small tables. The servers are very kind and attentive. It was a tad confusing as we had about three different servers throughout our lunch. The sushi chefs were not very kind, they seemed a bit put out, as if they didn't enjoy where they were. The seaweed salad and miso soup are amazing! I loved the way they decorated the plate for the seaweed salad, very cute! The sushi was really good, it came out quickly and it tasted delicious. I highly recommend the K-Rock roll, it is deep-fried to perfection! The only thing is that the K-Rock roll is about $12.95, but for eight pieces, it isn't too bad. Our total came out to $83 for four people, a tad pricey but, we polished all of the sushi, it was that good! I highly recommend this place, not only is the food good, the servers are very kind. Came here on the recommendation of our friends and were delighted. Pilsner Urquell on tap and they make strawberry dacquiris which my wife loved. We had heard so much about the Borscht we had to try it and were not disappointed. Since it doesn't have meat it's nice and light with delicious flavour. The gypsy schnitzel had a lovely homemade ginger lemon chutney on it and my goulash came with dumplings. The service was attentive and friendly.
